A few weeks after the arrest of the murderer of a young girl, forced into prostitution, the culprit is himself the victim of manslaughter within prison walls. Charlotte Lindholm shows great interest in the reasons behind the attack, as she believes it will enable her to reopen investigations into her old case, which ended unsatisfactorily for her. At that time, several "gentlemen" in high society circles enjoyed the company of young girls, who were severely beaten and subsequently disposed of. Charlotte succeeded in finding the middlemen, but the true perpetrators remained hidden.
Together with the investigating officer, Detective Prinz, Lindholm follows a tip that leads her to the estate of property tycoon Kaiser. To her surprise, she discovers that her friend, Jan Liebermann, is somehow associated with him. His journalistic research regarding a property scandal and Charlottes investigations, seem to share common ground. However, evidence is scarce. To be able to get to the prominent backers, Charlotte Lindholm has to personally venture into unfamiliar territory to solve the case.
