Veronika Hofer, a mother of two adult children, works together with her husband in a 4-star hotel, which he successfully runs. The couple have grown apart and Veronika has decided to leave her husband. She is not fond of life at the hotel anyway, especially as Dora, her mother-in-law dominates one and all. An accident occurs, making Veronika a widow. As the main heiress, she is suddenly faced with the decision, whether to stay on or leave the hotel. Everyone is surprised when she decides to take on the challenge and assume control of the business. This causes Dora to appear on the scene, who wants to get rid of her despised daughter-in-law, regardless of what it takes to do so. Dora senses an opportunity in the shape of manager Sebastian Claasen, who is monitoring the hotel on behalf of a major hotel chain considering a takeover. But she underestimates Veronika's determination.
