Single mom Martha lovingly takes care of the children in the neighbourhood, supported by former boxer Max. One day the withdrawn Tommy Skagen moves into Martha's apartment complex, together with his eight-year-old brother Winnie. Tommy is the son of famous pianist Victor Skagen, who has beaten his wife - the kids' mother - to death. Winnie and Tommy, himself a prodigy at the piano, live alone and have not been in contact with their father since the murder. During the day, Tommy studies law and at night engages in illegal Mixed Martial Arts fights - which soon brings Winnie into the care of Martha. When Victor Skagen suddenly appears and claims custody for Winnie, both Tommy's and Martha's worlds seem to come undone.
