Eduardo Silva was once a celebrated district attorney, but a tragic accident that happened two years ago, in which his wife Valentina died, has completely thrown him off-balance. In the meantime, he has moved into an obscure lodging house and his work situation leaves much to be desired. When he hears that the notorious underworld boss Tiago Zarco is suspected of murder, he offers to take on his case in court. His tells his astounded assistant, Marcia Amaya, that they are in desperate need of money and need the case. But before long, the young woman senses that something else lies behind the decision, as Eduardo's defence strategy doesn't seem to be in the client's best interests. The fact is that Eduardo just recently discovered that Zarco was having an affair with Valentina.
