In the spa gardens of the neighbouring Polish town of Swinemuende, the body of a supermarket owner from Ahlbeck on the island of Usedom is found. Inspector Julia Thiel and her Polish colleague Marek carry out their investigations together. The deceased wanted to meet up with one of her cashiers in order to offer her a brand new apartment in Poland, in exchange for a rundown house on the German side of the border. But as it seems, an inspection of the apartment never took place. A case that greatly challenges Julia Thiel, as, of all people, her mother Karin supports the main suspect as "legal counsel".
