This film presents the people of Irgisly going about their gardening, preparing preserves and milking their cows. They let us know how they see the world, what wishes they have and what worries them. In doing so, Irigisly becomes a mirror image of the extreme contrasts within Russian society; on the one hand the metropolises, in which the wealth of the country is squandered and then on the other hand, the rural regions, in which prosperity has yet to arrive.
